CONCREEP 11+ international conference – Northwestern University (IL, USA) – 15-17 July 2020
The CONCREEP 11+ international conference will be held at Northwestern University (Illinois, USA) from the 15th to 17th of July 2020. Join us to learn about the latest cutting-edge research on creep and deterioration of concrete, rock, and soil. Note that this edition of the conference is extending the research scope from concrete to geomaterials in general, so any work related to the time-behaviour of geomaterial is welcome.
The program is organised around 5 tracks:
– Long-term material deterioration and healing
– Multiphysics and transport phenomena
– Time-dependent behavior at multiple length and time scales
– Large scale effects and in situ monitoring of time-dependent deformation
– Experimental characterization of creep and shrinkage
Please check the website https://www.concreep.org/concreep11 for further information and abstract submission (open until the 15th of January 2020).

30° Convegno Nazionale Geosintetici, Bologna, 22 Ottobre 2020

The session welcomes contributions about shallow geothermal energy applications, including traditional closed- and open-loop borehole heat exchangers as well as so-called energy geostructures (e.g. thermo-active foundations, walls, tunnels).
Different types of analysis and approaches are relevant to this session, spanning from the evaluation of ground thermal properties to the mapping of shallow geothermal potential, from energy storage and district heating to sustainability issues and consequences of the geothermal energy use, from the design of new heat exchangers and installation techniques to the energy and thermo-(hydro-) mechanical performance of energy geostructures. Contributions based on experimental, analytical and numerical modelling are welcome as well as interventions about legislative aspects.

Sustainable conservation of UNESCO and other heritage sites through proactive geosciences, 10-12 December 2019
The Symposium will be organised during the period of 10 – 12 December 2019 by Embassy of ltaly in Egypt. It will take place in an exclusive cruise on the Nile between Luxor (check-in 9th of December) and Assuan (check-out 13th of December).
The Symposium is mainly addressed (not exclusively) to Conservators and Managers of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and of Monuments and Sites in general, as well as experts of Engineering Geology in general, who will benefit from case studies worldwide. It is organised in sessions covering the innovation and advances in science and technology on geohazards mitigation in heritage sites from all over the world, showing case studies and sharing similar approaches in various climatic and hazardous contexts.
