ALERT Workshop 2022 – Call for abstracts
The ALERT Workshop 2022 (32nd Edition) should be held in Aussois from 26th to 28th September, 2022. Abstracts (deadline April 30, 2022) can now be submitted for the three sessions:
- Session 1: Mechanics of hard-soils/soft rocks
- Session 2: Robot-Ground Interaction
- Session 3: Multi-field approach of gravity-driven disasters in a global climate change context

The University of Glasgow is seeking an ambitious academic to join the Division of Infrastructure & Environment in the area of Geotechnical Engineering. The post is permanent and full-time and refers to geotechnics of offshore and onshore renewables, ground source heating and thermo-active foundations, geological disposal of nuclear waste, sustainable and low-carbon construction techniques and to the impact of climate change on geohazards and geotechnical infrastructure. Research Assistant/Associate at Newcastle University (UK)

Sondaggio sull’importanza degli impatti dei cambiamenti climatici sulle geostrutture in Europa
Vi trasmettiamo il seguente messaggio da parte del gruppo di lavoro sui cambiamenti climatici della European Large Geotechnical Institutes Platform.

Avviato nell’aprile 2018, il Working Group on Climate Change Adaptation (WG CCA) è uno dei 5 gruppi di lavoro della European Large Geotechnical Institutes Platform (ELGIP), un consorzio delle principali organizzazioni di ricerca europee in ingegneria geotecnica (https://elgip.org/). Il WG CCA intende fungere da piattaforma per lo scambio di idee ed esperienze nell’affrontare le questioni legate al cambiamento climatico dal punto di vista dell’ingegneria geotecnica. In quest’ottica stiamo conducendo un sondaggio con l’obiettivo di comprendere l’impatto del cambiamento climatico sui terreni naturali e sulle geostrutture in tutta Europa e per identificare le lacune conoscitive sul tema. Sarà possibile accedere ai risultati del sondaggio tramite la pagina web del gruppo ELGIP.

Call for Submissions – Geo-Extreme 2021
We would like to draw your attention to the attached Call for Submissions for Geo-Extreme 2021, a specialty conference organize by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) to be held at the Hyatt Regency Savannah, in Savannah, GA, USA, on August 15-18, 2021.
Geo-Extreme 2021 aims to create a multi-disciplinary forum to discuss how the geo-engineering community can work with other professionals, e.g., climate scientists, engineers, emergency managers, resilience and sustainability investigators, insurance experts, and policy makers, to cope with extreme events under a changing climate.
Proposals for technical sessions, panels, and short courses are due May 22 and may be only emailed to Jay McKelvey at: jaym@earthengineering.com.

Una Scuola per dottorandi sui Cambiamenti Climatici – Mediterranean PhD School – Napoli Federico II
Il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Civile, Edile e Ambientale dell’Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II organizza la prima Mediterranean PhD School. L’evento si terrà nelle aule della Scuola Politecnica e delle Scienze di Base a Piazzale Tecchio, dal 7 al 12 ottobre 2019.
La Mediterranean PhD School 2019 verterà sul tema: ”Impacts of Climate Change and Sustainable Engineering Responses” e tratterà le risposte che l’ingegneria civile può dare in termini di adattamento e mitigazione dei cambiamenti climatici. Le lezioni saranno tenute da 22 relatori di fama internazionale provenienti da vari paesi europei e da alcuni docenti del Dipartimento. Per la geotecnica i relatori sono i proff. Alonso, Leung, Mancuso, Pagano, Picarelli, Pirone, Romero.
